Tyco Fans,
As I am planning head off to a train show in the morning after church, and find something special, a 4301 Great Northern, A PRR Century, or a PRR Diecast Shark for example, or you fill in the blank, I was thinking about how it's close to the end of another year and we might make a list of the Tyco finds or reveals of finds or discoveries that have benefited Tycokind of 2006. Any ideas or thoughts?
Thanks

The re-discovery of TYCO's Deluxe F-7A series was a nice surprise for me...Big Thanks to VintageHO for digging up the announcement for these...

Well, since it was asked, my finding of this guy jump-started this forum back in July:

Although I also have to say, the GN F7 in box is a BEAUTIFUL presentation:

And I have to thank MagAc (where he be anyway?) for mentioning that rare first IC GP20. I had no idea it would look as cool as it did, bad picture and all. Oh how I wish I could kill some coworkers right now... [V]

Yes, where oh where has MagAc gone??? Come back to the faithful, Sir...we all miss ya! [V]
Tony L.'s Great Northern C430 was a big big surprise for me. I did finally find a reference to it in the December 1970 Railroad Model Craftsman magazine. In the America's Hobby Center (AHC) ad they list Great Northern among roadnames available for sale for the TYCO C430.

Tycofans, I agree with the replies to date. They were fun to read about and see. Maybe the finds could also be those special to you, not just the rarest of the rare.

Not my most rare or least expensive find, but certainly fun, was the Transformers set. That caboose is a trip!
Of personal value? Finding my old piggyback unloaders was a treat. They're probably my most cherished toys from late childhood. [^]
Those and deciding to give my Shark an overhaul is what uncorked this latest collecting bug... which is both good and bad... [;)]

GoinginCirclez...I too found the engine and boxcar from the transformers set. What a train!!!
My best find though as to be my Canadiana C430. Finally after 7 long years I had something to pull my Canadiana caboose.

Cheez - yeah, I was really intrigued by it. The boxcar would really be neat to see with standard trucks... if I find a second one I plant to convert it. The caboose yields clues as to why the trucks are so different, though.
Those couplers are a total enigma, though. MagAc identified them as being from 30 years earlier and forgotten - where in the world did Tyco get the idea to dig those up???

I'm not sure about the other cars, but on the boxcar the coupler folds down 90 degrees. Just another theory as to why Tyco used those couplers but perhaps Tyco needed a slightly thicker/tougher coupler to keep it from breaking while being folded down.
I don't have the caboose from this set...yet. Why does it have the weird lookin trucks???
Another awesome piece I found was the A-team shark-nose. Now that is a sweet engine.

Hi All,
My best find of 2006 would have to be my Mantua blue ( Teal ) Santa Fe cattle car. It's my Avatar. It cost me $1 I think and it is complete and I would say near mint. I collect TYCO because I want to play with them LOL! Anyway, once I got to the bottom of who Mantua was in relation to TYCO I was off and running because the child hood juices had started flowing. I picked up the following shortly after getting bit for $1 each or less complete.
Purina box car Purina hopper Baby Ruth box car Baby Ruth box car with ( RATTLE ) chuff sound. Don't run this much LOL Dairymens league box car Santa fe crane and boom tender Canada dry bill board box car
The list goes on and on.
Thanks Mike

I just found a couple of deals tonight at the club metting. I got this Coney Island trolley for $3

I got this coach for $2. Although it has the wrong trucks, I thought it was a fair price. When I got it home and gave it a closer look I noticed they were Kato trucks. Even better I can use them on another project I have going.[:D]

Tyco Fans, I managed to get a Penn Central 5628 430 Alco Century off the bay, and is one of my personal finds of '06, and it's my current avatar.

I just made a nice find this weekend...
I had that GN F-7 on my watch list, and actually managed to be watching the auction near close, prepared to snipe. Then I distracted myself reading about football, and when I remembered my auction... 1 second left. Oops. And it went for less than the last one!!
So today on my trip, I FINALLY had a chance to visit the hoby shop of my childhood, a train-exclusive shop. Owner knows me well enogh to let me have free reign in the backstock area.
So, rummaging through the small stacks of vintage RTR he lad left, three boxes caught my eye. "Mantua, F-7 Diesel, Great Northern". First two were Green... but the last was Big Sky!!! Road number #377-A. Dual-drive, screwed-in NMRA coupler - this is the SAME locomotive as the Deluxe Tyco F-7!
Original price tag was $35. He let me have it for much less. Shrinkwrap had never been touched!
This is so eerie, I wouldn't dare make it up. I hope I didn't cash in all my good karma on that. And I don't want to sound like I'm boasting but it's so nice to have both Tyco Big Sky GNs now. I'll post a pic of the box when I get home. Stock number was stamped 402-61, but someone crossed that out and wrote "411-61 Blue".
