Does anyone else have more info on the tyco SD24`s especially the Chessie System? I have a Chessie System SD24 and after looking over it I was supprised how decent it looked for TYCO. The paint is 10 times better than what they used on the C630`s and the decaling is much , much better!

I think Tony L. aka GoingInCirclez will doubtless chime in here on this one...he has a Chessie SD24.

Tony L.'s can be seen in the comparison of the original TYCO SD24 shell vs. the old Atlas-Roco SD24 on the TYCO Resource...

Here's the link to my page on the SD24 model...

What specifically were you looking for info-wise regarding the TYCO SD24?

Though generally, IHC's new paint jobs are pretty nice...I must say the TYCO SD24 paint for Chessie System from the late '70s beats the recent IHC Chessie System SD24's decoration.

Here's the latest IHC Chessie SD24...

YES!! Finally, someone sees what I'm talkin' about!!!

I put my C430 and SD24's together, and I can't believe they're from the same company.

You know, it seems like in spite of the powertorques, Tyco DID revive it's religion in the late 70's to early 80's... there is a noticeable upward swing in quality and product variety in those years. The Bell curve seems to taper toward the early 70's and mid 80's.

It's what makes searching out and collecting tyco so much fun and aggravating at the same time...

TYCO or somebody there that had the ability to pick and choose roadnames did have some fun beginning in the late '70s and into the early '80s.

Consider some of the greats offered during this period...Western Pacific GP20; GM&O GP20; D&H Shark; New York Central Shark; Cotton Belt F9; Northern Pacific Shark...

After about 1982's catalog the bottom drops out on these cool paint jobs and we're left with Rambo; GI Joe; and Turbo Trains until the line dies in the early '90s.

Anyway, items like the GM&O GP20 to me are kinda the last gasp of coolness for the TYCO line.
