Hey guys. I'm trying to get a trolleybus system set up on my layout but I'm having some trouble. The poles I'm using are made of a flexible plastic and are bending from side to side everytime the bus goes by. I'd like to scratchbuild some poles out of brass wire, similar to the trackside poles shown on 2guyzandsumtrains. The only problem with this though, is that building the pole's arm out of metal would allow power to travel between the 2 wires. The wires travel through small metal tubes attached to the poles. I need to figure out a way to mount the tubes on the poles' arms, while keeping electricity from travelling between the 2 wires via the metal street pole.
That may have been a little hard to understand, so here are some pics of how its set up with the plastic poles:
This is a section of wires I set up to test it.
The tubes mounted on the plastic poles.
The bus picks up power using sliders on the end of its trolley poles. The poles are connected to a pivoting piece on the roof of the bus which is connected to the steering mech.
So ya...I'm basically trying to build street poles similar to the ones shown only out of metal. The only thing I'm not really sure how to do is mount the tubes on the poles. Any ideas?

| Make your vertical poles from brass rod, your horizontal ones can then be smaller brass rod at the center of a styrene tube. That would give you stiffness and electrical separation.
