A 31 yr old Mt Holly man was struck and his leg severed at the knee cap by an CSX train sunday at 1:15 am. The engineer said the man was lying between the tracks in the Fetal position. The man heard the trains horn and brakes apply and tried to move out of the way. The man was caught beneath the locomotive and dragged 60 feet. THe man was airlifted with life threatning injuries to A Charlotte NC hospital He was visitng friends in the neighborhood where the accident occured. He was walkling the tracks home. Alcohol or drug use has not been determined at this time.
