I put my old Burlington AHM U25C on the track this morning, just to see if it would run...and run it did...and not too bad. My layout is Code-83 track and the U25C "features" flanges that are a bit too large for Code-83. Also noticed that my example is without traction tires.

Any suggestions on replacing the wheels to get to ones that have less flange and would operate on Code-83 track, but would be compatible with the AHM-Rivarossi drive?

Also, has anybody re-traction tired either this U25C model. Wondered if any of the rubber tires in the Stewart kit made for TYCO Chattanooga steamers might work?

Would like to get both my U25C and set of three Krauss Maffei Rio Grandes running on my current Code-83 pike...anyone have any input?

Thanks

Tony Cook

Tony,
I have turned the flanges down on Rivarossi steam loco drivers on my lathe by chucking them by the tread of the wheel. The chuck acts as a heat sink and it can be done without removing the wheels from the axle.
The wheels with traction tire grooves are somewhat difficult to chuck in the lathe though.
