I have an Atlas switch on my layout which is giving me some problems. Whenever I'm running an engine which only picks up power from the wheels on one side of each truck, it loses power on the swtich. This happens when the pick-up wheels are on the moveable section of track. Is there a way to fix this? Or is something just dirty? Thanx.

| DaCheez, If it's a standard Atlas switch, all parts should carry current. The most likely problem is dirt/oxidation, both on switch and on wheels. The moveable part of the switch doesn't have much area for wheels to contact, so it's sensitive. It could also be that a good connection is not happening at the riveted pivot point. You could test just that particular rail using a light bulb, meter, etc, to see if it has current. Could also check rail joiners to switch.

| Eric--if the suggestion Adams made does not work-you can solder a wire to inside of point to carry current. Use stranded wire as it is flexible over a solid wire. Solder to the underside then connect to the same side of rail. Also look at the switch point to see if has been bent slightly to where it is not touching rail causing problem

| Thanx for the tips guys. I took a better look at the rivet and noticed there was some glue and ballast stuck to it. I scraped that away and it seems to work fine now.

| Eric--- Tip = Always keep your ballast free around switches and never glue. Glad you found the problem[:D]
