I'm familiar with the style of the advertising. Long-winded, use of phrases such as "Secrets and Little-Known "Tricks Of The Trade" Revealed... " and "Are You Ready To Discover The CAREFULLY GUARDED Model Railroading Secrets And CLEVER Short-Cuts That Only The Most Savvy Veteran Model Railroaders Know?"
, words such as "EXPOSED", "REVEALED" sprinkled around, oh, and throw in the word "FREE" here and there. Then put in lots of testimonials from gullib...err, I mean discerning customers. It all seems very tabeloid / sensationalist to me.

This isn't to say that it's no good, but that style just puts me off straight away. In any case, I very much doubt that I would learn much, if anything from it - this is NOT to say that I am claiming to know everything - I don't. But nothing in that list of teasers really had me wanting to know more. And somehow I feel I'd only be disappointed if I knew their answers. As an example, "The little-known secret that will save you time locating faults! ". The answer could well be something like connecting a light bulb across the tracks or pushing a lighted car around to see where the unpowered section of track is.

I have a feeling I've seen this ad before, but last time I saw it, they were also pushing the fact that they could also let you know of a place where you could get your models for up to around 60% off retail prices - and of course this place was "little known" and "secret".

In any case, we here can ask any question about model railroads and get one or more helpful answers for free. [:D]

Somewhere on Tony's collectors site there was a ad for this that you could down load some sample pages, I did not but maybe that is a place to start to see if it is worth it... the "fanged one"...Garret

I believe it is this www.model-railroad-resources.com/freepages.html

"Though amid all the smoking horror and diabolism of a sea-fight, SHARKS will be seen longingly gazing up to the ship's decks, like hungry dogs round a table where red meat is being carved, ready to bolt down every killed man that is tossed to them . . ." by Herman Melville

In order to download the sample pages, you need to provide an email address. I have not yet decided about the eBook. Since I got the sample pages, I have received one email a day with additional "tips" .. and a link to make the purchase.

The sample pages also includes a copy of the Table of Contents.

Very much like a lot of items sold on the internet...they give you nothing, promise you a lot and are a constant pain in the butt....

I usually don't bother with these ads. Most of the great ideas you can find on the internet forums like this and within websites. Save your money. Here is an example: Tips from the pros for free: Pros being people like John Tyler, Gordon Varney, Williams Walthers, Charles Penn, to name a few. Look in the Model RR Equipment Catalogs at link below.

Well, I said I thought I'd seen this e-book ad before. And I saw it advertised in Australian Model Engineering magazine the other day and realised this was the one I saw earlier. Have a look (if you dare) at this very similar set-up.

http://beginnersguidetomodeltrains.com

Look / sound familiar? Don't be sucked in though. I only post it here so you can read it and roll your eyes knowingly. [:D]

I wonder if they are both the exact same product or not.

They're keen. The URL for this site advertised in the magazine was http://www.begguidemodeltrains.com but that just goes straight to http://beginnersguidetomodeltrains.com/?hop=3frankie Makes me wonder how many domains they have.
