Today is Memeorial Day in the states. The gas train is a runaway derailing many of us. Just wandering how other members are affected by high fuel, food expense that has outpaced most incomes and raises if you were fortunate enough to get a raise. For me-- the money i use to have to purchase trains and accesories after paying all the bills has rapidly decreased with the daily rising of gas. That money is now being used just to buy fuel to get to work. I do not let my gas tank in my 96 F150 get past half--it costs $50 just to fill from half--use to cost $30.00 to fill both tanks when new. I have noticed on ebay also a lot of hard to find and the truly rare tyco items have been appearing since fuel has risen. Happy Memorial Day!!

Wow ken--$10.00 a gallon!! that price would stop the economy here in the US which would probably be disasterous for other countries if that happened. We need some of the rain you are getting.

Our Gov. Reps need to solve this problem now even if it means a few of them ruin their careers, for standing up for what's right, i.e. not the popular thing to do because it's not green and not good for the environment, and for the good of the Nation's economy. The candidates need to tell how the problem will be fixed in detail. We need to drill for oil in the hot locations and invest in new Oil refinerys. The industry can afford it with out price hikes, look at the profits. Alternative fuels will be developed eventually at reasonable cost.
Happy Memorial Day

Hey Ken:
You're thinking Imperial Gallons. A US Gallon is 3.83 liters.
Price in Toronto this morning is: 1.27/Liter

| Yes I do feel it. I have to drive over 400 miles per week at a bare minimum which puts my personal gasoline cost at $80/week minimum. I no longer have that "extra" play money I had each week from my "personal allowance" which afforded my gas, lunches, coffee, etc. for the week. I'll end my response here before I start to rant and get all politcal.

Hi all,
just to add another price of petrol... Here in Germany the litre is 1.53 euros, which is around 2.30 US$, quite similar to GB! About 70% of the price is tax.
Don´t wanna think about it....

| A big part of the problem where I live is the lack of mass-transit--no trains, busses, anything. I would gladly take a train to work each day. My "local" hobby shop is about 18mi. each way--figure 2 gallons for a round trip, and I've already spent nearly $8 without making a hobby purchase!

I'm fine and enjoying the day just hanging out here with my wife and kids, we decided it's a lazy day. I'm trying to get caught up on the important things in life, like trains... [:O]

Hi All,
I drive 134 miles a day round trip to work. I drive a little 4 banger to work but it's still $60 a week for gas. The Great One drives our GMC Jimmy around town and it drinks gas like a fish. So needless to say it will be traded in for a a car with a 4 cylinder engine, SOON!
THANKS to all who have served!

$1.35 Litre X 3.83: Gallon $5.17 per gallon
My cost: $48/mo
each time I see those gas prices go up 5 to 10 cents a litre, I hold tighter to my monthly bus pass.
anybody here have stock in the fuel investments?
John
p.s. unfortunately, with the high cost of living these days, the type font in my entry has been reduced for economy reasons.
Until the prices for gas went up, I envied people who drive cars.
20 years ago, I paid $0.85 a gallon when I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma... those were the dayz, my friendz!
pps, I am not bragging about my bus pass. My sympathies go out to you people.
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
