I found another CD player just begging to be scrapped and thought I'd see if I could replace a motor in a Super 630. Actually GiC mentioned the idea in the STC rebuild article. This CD player by Lenoxx had a very slim motor, so much more than the SRII. Once I readied the block, this time using my Dremel and a cut-off wheel to speed things along. I removed some extra material in the block, to make the motor more flush with the block, and have a very small clearance between the block and the middle axle wheel. I drilled the pinion slowly and mounted it to the shaft with a little Epoxy as before while having epoxy set up between the motor and the block. I tried to mesh the gears as gently as possible. I used an empty screw hole and screw to mount the red lead and wired the black to the existing wire from the rear truck. I placed it on the track and it ran. I've only had this thing together for about an hour. Did I mention that I paid $.25 for the CD player? BTW There is a pic of the clearenced block and the motor that is in this 630 under Electric Motors in the Tyco Maintenance and Repair Shop.
