Nice looking layout! Can you send me some larger photos? How large is the layout? Is it a published track plan or all your own? How long have you been working on it? Looks very good!

It is not latge...12' x 4' for now, can add a small L at the right side of 6' by maybe 3' to 4' if I need to some day. Runs the el and an occassional penn or nyc, based in ohio in the early to mid sixtys... is a variation of a dog bone that I found, modified the plan...has one main line loop and a point to point switching track inside, called it the stoney creek

because of the rock formations an a small creek that will run on two of three of the corners, have a lot of items for it that I am doing a little kit bashing on... the passenger station and the freight are in the process of being modified right now...nothing is really complete except the wiring of the track... the control box for now is a modified shoe box until I get to build one...

and actually I like it that way.. when I get a chance to work on it.. I can float to what ever is my fancy that day or night..eventually will be going on a shelf area that I have in the basement...but that is a ways off. theres a few more photos..

hope you like...working on just for two moths now...had a layout 27 yrs ago that just grew and grew...here I am limited to space...do you just love the for rent signs....

thanks for looking and any comments are appreciated...Garret

Great photos! You've only been working on it fot 2 months? You have gotten quite a bit done in a very short time! The for rent signs are cool. But that Athearn GP35 is what really caught my eye. I have one as well. It is the first loco I ever had!

Looks good, coming along nicely. What are you using to stain the foam for landscaping? It has a neat effect sort of like those prefab plastic layouts from the 50's.

using foam with a wash coat of plaster, then acrylic paints in earth tones and a rust color brushed on in a haphazard way...Garret

Very nice work--I especially like the rockwork in the corners, and the great effect you've gotten just with paints on the foam. How thick is your foam board? In my part of the country, 1" is the thickest I can find. Chris

I love how well you ballasted the tracks. What size ballast did you use? How did you spread it so neatly?

The foam is one inch on the rocks, just stacked and glued as needed, form for the track is 2 in used in insulation of a house... as for the ballast, it was all put down with a little measuring scoop and used several different types of brushes to spread and remove as needed....size is called a medium grade mixed grey that I get from the hobby shop, comes in a bottle or package depending on need, also have other colors and grades that I will be using as the roads, pathways and ground start to get in....ps here are a few new pictures...did a little kitbashing on the sand tower and changed it to a sand and ballast area...it's a left over from the steam period...but thought it went well with the maint. area that I am building..see pictures of little eng. maint. building also that will go in there...thanks for any imput...Garret

hope you all like...work crew has been hard at work on outside projects...so not much is getting done as of this date...
