Does anyone know how or where I can locate estimated values of my Tyco train collection? I have several pieces and sets that I have had from my childhood that are shown on the Tyco brown box web site. Many of these are said to have been made on for a few years. I actually still have the Sante Fe described below. Any help in locating this information would be appreciated. Please email me at:

Santa Fe (Freight Warbonnet blue and yellow) -No.228-22 (1976)
Found in the 1976 TYCO catalog only is this blue-and-yellow Santa Fe "Freight Warbonnet" scheme GP-20. To date, no samples have been found beyond the images seen in the catalog. It is currently thought to perhaps be a protoype and may never have been produced by TYCO. This Santa Fe paint scheme would have replaced the original blue-and-yellow freight painted GP-20 that was introduced with the model originally in the 1960s. TYCO adds a red-and-silver Passenger Warbonnet Santa Fe GP-20 to its line beginning in 1978.

| Don't know where you can find out what they're worth, but for most Tyco pieces, if you take the original price and divide it but about...oh...5, you get what it would be worth today...

But seriously, Alec... per your other post-- There is no price guideline I'm aware of for Tyco sets and individual pieces. If you are determining price for intended resale check your comparables as they are auctioned on-line. It is the most realistic gauge of real worth, a recognized marketplace that sees from 800-1500 Mantua and Tyco lots auctioned in any given week. It would be advantageous to possess a good checklist with value estimates as exists for Athearn, Lionel, Varney, Marx and others but to date no one has published such an animal. Let us know what sort of comparables you find and your Forum comrades will alert you to the same. We're all in this together, MagnoliaAcademy

It would be nice to see pics of your GP-20. Like others say, there is no published collector/price guide for Tyco I'm aware of. It would be nice to see a book published. You just about have to see what the asking prices are at swap meets and what autions close at on ebay. From what I've see on ebay, common used engines from the brown box era in excellent condition go for around $10 to $15 and mint ones go for $20 to $30. Average freight cars range from $2 in excellent condition to $5 for mint. By average I mean your run the mill 40 ft boxcars, tankers, gondolas, etc.
