Here are a couple of PA. C430s I built. The decals seem to be coming loose but they still look good for their age.

Thia is a PC unit I did.
If you look close at the truck you can see the new motor that was transplanted.
This is another shot of the CR C430.
 A RI C430.

This is a closer look at the low nose C630 I built.

This is one of the scratch built dummy trucks. The truck frames are built up from styrene and the sideframes were cast from resin in wax molds using L/L C628 sideframes as patterns. You can see the coupler mount in this photo also.

Awesome locos Ray. I can just imagine the time and effort that went into these. The 430 was destined to carry PRR colors The 2058 PC has a secret. I'd be interested to hear it if you'd like. I'm short of time right now but I'll have more questions later. Thanks fo sharing.

| Very Impressive! Gets me wondering if anyone has done the opposite: re-building a C430 as a high-nose?

That trick truck in the PC unit was an experiment I did to find a solution for the weak PT motor. I mounted the truck block in the Lathe and machined out the motor cavity enough for the can motor to fit. The motor is a 3V motor from a portable CD player. I didn't have a pinion gear to match the original Tyco large gear so I set up another set of gears. The gears gave it a higher reduction and gives it some enormous pulling power.
I have a Resistor in series with the motor (I forget what size) and added more weight to the loco. I am working on a pulse-width-modulating circuit to replace the resistor.

Ingenious and thought provoking! Thanks Ray!
thetycoguy: looks like tycoprototypes has Powertorques for sale. Your problem could be several things. I try to look at easy solutions first. Good and proper wiring connections? Some times if the trucks have both been out the brass wheels can end up on the same side and needs reversed. If the brush springs have been twisted they don't make good contact on the brushes. Clean the pick-up wheels with alcohol on a swab untill they look clean and shiney. You can get the axles out by removing the 3 screws on each truck. Careful not to loose screws or gear off the power truck. Are all wheels making contact with the track? Just some ideas I hope will help.

Here a few pics of my pristine Presidential Seal C430. The handrails are in the box. Picked this baby up for $3.00 at my LHS.

Hey Ray:
Where did the nose for your 630 low Nose come from? Profile looks differnet than the Tyco 430 which sucks.

I cut down the high hood and made a new top for the hood. The arch to the hood was formed as close as I could get it, glued on, then filled and sanded to shape. I was going to look at the C430 or C628 noses for my next one.
