Very cool![:p] It's Tyco? What's it made of? You gotta get that fixed up and get some pics of it with trains on it.

I've seen ads in the 1970s for similar layouts but never saw one in person. I had one that was vacu-formed plastic, It got distroyed by someone who had plans of enlarging it.[xx(] [Oops!]

Care to share where you found it online?
I'd like to know what it's made of too.

To me, it looks like it is sheet styrene formed skin with possibly a firring strip wood bracing structure. That would mean it was formed over some sort of mold. It is in 6 pieces and it must be about 48" wide by around 6 to 8 feet long. Personally, I think it is a display from a hobby shop or something like that. I can not see this being sold as an add on and I did not see it in any of my TYCO catalogs. Who knows.....I was hoping you guys would. -Bob

I thought it might be dense Styrofoam. I could be wrong.

Sorry I can't offer any backround facts. When it comes to Tyco particulars, I'm a rank newbie. However, from the pic in the first thread, the nearest corner of the layout shows how thin the plastic is. Looks vacuformed to me.
The modular design reminds me of American Flyer's "All Aboard" panels of 1965-66. Those, of course, were sold as home layouts. Perhaps, Tyco was looking to provide dealers with a less expensive store layout, which could be stored more adaptably. Vacuforming, at that size, tends to suggest less-than-retail quantities.

I tend to agree with Roy, I think it's vacuformed and just the size would lead me to believe small quantities were made. -Bob
