How did the 0-8-0 Chattanooga get its power into the Tender?
I have good GNDs but a lonely DC terminal on the motor. Where did it get the DC?

There were 2 wires that go to the locomotive.
One brings power to the motor from the locomotive chassis. It connects to the upper terminal on the motor.
The other is the ground for the headlight in the locomotive and should be connected to the tender chassis..

Thanks Ray,
I am beginning to think I have a collection of odd parts here. True, the engine case has the number 638, but it has plastic wheels with a metal rim. It's hard to make connection with the center shaft and there's my plight. The whole engine is floating electrically. I guess I have to invent a hot DC source for the tender and just run the two wires for the lamp.

I don't know the design of this engine, but see if there is provision on the engine chassis for a missing wiper contact to the driver rims. If not, look on the inside surface of the drivers for a thin contact strip running from the rim to the hub. In either case, all such contact drivers need to be on the opposite side of the engine chassis from the pickups on the tender, of course.
