I have GOT to get one of these!

IN all seriousness, that's a pretty awesome conversion - a LOT of work went into that - more than simply painting a cargo van and modifying the front end (yes I have thought of that before LOL).

I wonder what it actually rides on, it is hidden very well. You can see the semblance of a reworked truck grille but I don't recognize it.

That is cool!! The chassis looks like a FreightLiner as that is the only style of grill used on their trucks. Peterbuilt-Mack-Ford/Sterling-KW's-and Internationals have different grilles and none like the one on the SF pictured. The Freightliner plant in Mt. Holly NC was right across the hwy from my elementary school i attended-so i was used to seeing the trucks daily and that grill. The chassis could be from a box truck or school bus. G-I-C--was this a parade you went to??

Hmm, would Frieghtliner make something that small though? One of their class 5 chassis would work but then the whole cab is tossable.

At first I thought they added a shell to a dually chassis, but the more I look at it the more I'm thinking a modified box van (like UPS) would make sense.

And yes, back in the day I DID INDEED go to that parade a few times, but of course the streetable F wasn't there. I haven't been to it in probably close to 20 years. It used to run a route along 67th Street in the Marquette Park area of the SW side of Chicago... and somehow the buildings and lamppost swag make me think it still does :)

It's really interesting. It reminds me of the Marx 027 F3.

For some reason anytime GIC includes a picture, all I get is a red X in a box? Any help?

Hey Guys:

GIC has keft the forum and his pictures are not working because the site he was using to host the pictures has been rearranged,

Nothing is forever! [V] [V] [V] He'll be missed.

That's why I like to upload photos directly to the forum. But that's just my preference.
The photo That GIC posted was (I believe) of the same vehicle.

Gareth, good explanation :) You said it well.

Ray, exactly to preference. Some folks like control over the photos they used be it original photography or even something they grabbed from a news article so not to hotlink (won't even go into copyrights there). Most forums won't even allow you to "host" them on the forum like it is done here, so that's a pretty neat feature.
