This is my favorite of the pre-production prototypes so far. Done up very nicely with some cool details. I wish they went further and came out with it.

Wow! Now that is cool!

Take:

(2) F-7 shells for splicing
(1) C430 radiator grid
(1) shortened 40' reefer underframe
(?) detail bits from other cars (boxes from caboose frame, etc)
(1) Pair GG1 Pantographs
(1) pair updated (screw-together) MU-2 trucks (!)

Stir Fry until crisp. Voila!

That is seriously neat. This is the reason to keep junker shells around.

That's an idea for the forum. Develop kitbashes of locos with only Tyco parts or mostly Tyco parts, as if Tyco had done it. Even free-lancing using only Tyco parts.

I just looked at that pic again. The pieces that stick up on either side of the radiator...are those pieces from the bottom of an F-7 shell? The part that holds the fuel tank?

I like that idea.
In fact I have one I already did, It's a Tyco F3.

I have a low nose C630 too.

uh... uh... hey fellas, (and ladies?) if my memory serves me correctly, this particular unit actually existed.

Electric Z-? box cab #5011 was in a derailment. The chassis was then rebuilt and covered with two (2) noses of F-3's, I think they were from F-3's...
Now, it was actually painted in the "Omaha Orange & Pullman Green" paint scheme.
But, just short of the "Blues" paint job, you've got quite the unit!

Congrats!

John

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.
"I love your catenary!"
Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

John is right...

http://www.greatnorthernempire.net/index2.htm?GNEGNElectricRosters.htm

GN #5011 was an Alco-GE Y1 electric rebuilt with FT-A noses and then labeled a Y1-A...

Ray,
Love the F-3 and would like to know more about it and to see pics of the low nose 630 when you get time.
