Hey Guys:

Can all of you fellow listers please add to this thread any F-7 models that you know of in HO scale from the beginning of HO modelling up to the present. The idea is to figure out what would be needed to set up a comparsison of F7 models that have appeareed through the ages of man. The intention would be to focus on Nose profiles, headlight and pilots, but other items as well.

So I'll start:

Athearn HI-F version
Revell
Tyco MU-2

Pipe in guys! Lets see if we can motivate our doubtlessly sleepless colleague in Kentucky! [^] Let me rephrase "Get off your lazy sodding asses and ....!"

G.

Hey...no need for the R. Lee Ermy "Full Metal Jacket" treatment...[:D]

A Tyco Red Box era...

...a Life-Like unit...

...and finally a Bachmann offering.

Still learning how to use my new photo "studio" setting, need to get some foot lights or something.

It's interesting to think that, up until a couple months ago, I had no F units at all. These came along in a short amount of time and are quite different from each other. It is interesting to see each manufacturer's take on them. I'll post pics of the drives tomorrow.

Hi All,

I Have the following F's

Athearn Penn F

Athearn BN F

Bachmann BN F

Athearn SF F (Sorry so large)

Athearn B&O & SF

These may not be much help because they are mostly Athearn but I can't find my other Mfr. pics right now.

The huge shot of the SF F7 nose shows the Athearn newer style cut out pilot and dual headlight.

Pretty "Widow" [:P]

Ray what exactly is the difference between the Bachmann "Plus" and "Spectrum" I've hear lots of insults about Bachmann stuff, but on a strip of old dirty track my BS 2-8-0 Consolie (KBed to a Camelback) is a superlative runner!

I'm not really sure. There may be some minor detail differences.
The biggest issue I have with Bachmanns are splitting gears. The axle gears on that F7 were starting to split. I caught them in time before the split got to the teeth. I put brass sleeves over the ends of the gears to stop them from splitting further.
