This post is in follow up to the ones in the Loose Ends forum about prototypes. These are two apparent Tyco prototypes that I bought in BN that do not match anything else discussed here or cataloged. They were bought from an ebay'er named mrtyco back in 2003 who got a lot of stuff from an ex-Tyco employee. Bob (tyco_prototypes) now has what was left of that collection and not sold.
The first is an SD24 in BN. Note the non-prototypical trucks from the 630 indicating the PT drive The horn is also missing, it has two mounting holes in the shell placed front & rear. I actually don't have any other SD24 units to check if it matches them for that mounting hole.

I had forgotten I had a prototype C430 in BN. It has the MU-2 drive motors.

Lastly, while not a prototype, thought I throw in that I have one of the "rare" first edition BN GP-20's. I have other uncommon items that I need to get around to posting. I lurk here often but haven't posted much till now. You'll probably see more of me in the future. Mike

Wow, those are beautiful! Very nicely done (almost too nice!) and WAY more authentic than anything Tyco actually made for the BN. It really makes one wonder why they did not release these.
It's interesting that they did the SD24 and PT-rev 430 in such authentic paint, then proceeded to immediately re-release the GP20 in such a fantasied rendition. Their BN E7 is also "fake" but does seem to be inspired by (and almost match) match an odd one-off real-world BN E-unit.
Do you know what items were leaked from that collection back in 2003? Could that strangely-rendered Rock Island Bicentennial E7 I posted have originally come from there? I got it form the estate of a Rock Island collector/fan who passed away.

Really interesting. I wonder if us "normal" guys will ever uncover anything like this. Tyco must have had lots of employees that aquired memoribilia when Tyco closed up.
