This is a first for me. Thanks in advance. I have a Silver Streak from my boys childhood days. I now want the grandkids to enjoy it. It runs but the front wheels turn in the curves and won't straighten up on the staight sections of track and at the next curve section it jumps the track. All movement with the front set of wheels seems to be fine. Any suggestions from anyone will be appreciated. Terry

Hey Terry. Some pics of the bottom of the engine would help.
When you turn the engine upsidedown, can you move the front truck freely from side to side, or does it get stuck? If it gets stuck, the truck may have popped out of the ring inside the shell. There are 2 round clips on either side of the truck...make sure that both of these tiny rings are clipped onto the truck.
Check the back truck as well. On some of Tyco's engines the powered truck does not move much, and most of the turns come from the rear truck.
The only other thing I can think of, is there may be a wire inside the engine that is pressing on the motor and preventing the truck from pivoting freely.
Hope the helps

BTW, just in case you arent familiar with trains, the "truck" is the part that holds the wheels and motor.

hi...
1. Check the track for irregularities... a) missing connectors b) misaligned connectors
2. Lift locomotive and inspect bottom: a) Check rotation/swivel of truck... sometimes the truck side frames are problematic or have extra flashing (excess plastic) b) Could be a stiffened wire/insulation...
3. Check flanges: one side is metal, the other is plastic a) powered truck has two axles with flanges and a middle set of wheels with-out flanges... b) traction tires for dry-rot or twists, or missing
4. Are there any weights missing? Fuel tanks are usually where the weights are.
5. Do you run the locomotive at high speeds?
This inspection may be what you need to find your answers.

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

| Thanks, Zeb and Da, for the advice. All movement appears to be free. I am going to try the replacement of the traction tires next when I find a repair shop. A little new at this to attempt myself. Again thinks for the suggestions. Still jumping track. T

| Thanks again for the replies and suggestions. It will now stay on the track and is working almost like new. It was one of the gray/dull silver wheel covers that was on upside down. I hooked, can't wait to buy more stuff. T
