Here is a Train Miniature Alco ABA set I rebuilt.
All 3 units were remotored with large can motors and rewired.

Hey RM:

Don't know Train Miniatures, but Love any PRR Alco! Nice stuff. Chassis look Athearn-esque!

For this week I'm gonna put up the Proto shot of my Walthers SW-1 In LV Piant, BECAUSE mine is a replica of this particular SW-1 and I don't have a shot of the model! [:o)] [:o)] [:o)]

PS: Thanks RM for starting this week, was pre-occupied as I sometimes get!

Train Miniature was around in the 70s. They used Athearn drive components in their locomotives like Stewart did.
Train Miniature also had a nice line of freight cars.

Hey Ray,

Are those Mabuchi motors? www.allelectronics.com is selling a motor just like those for an amazing $1.75 each!! I picked up 7 for use in my C-Liners I'm rebuilding. Trying to make a couple of them into 5 axle units.

Here's some Train Miniature ads...

The ALCO FA-1 and FB-1 from a March 1972 issue of the now-defunct Railroad Modeler magazine...

And here's Train MIniature's freight car line as of a December 1972 ad in Model Railroader...

I believe the Walthers Trainline Alco FA-1 and FB-1 utilize the tooling from these Train Miniature originals. Walthers may also have some of this same rolling stock in its line today.

Hi Guys. Ray I like your PRR set very nicely done. Here are my TMI NYC FA & FB Set. These are earlier than the Athearn Versions. These have drives and chassis made in Japan. The bottom of the Chassis has: Micro Cast Tokyo TMI Made in Japan. The trucks have nice details and even without flywheels, it runs smooth. The printing and lettering is excellent quality. I have only seen one other set with this drive, it also was NYC.

Sorry these aren't locos, but I had a question about TM/I.

What was the relationship between TM (Train Miniature) and TMI (TM of Illinois)? Which came first?

Always thought their plastic boxes were sorta neat... like the Micro-trains treatment in HO scale.

Also... it seems TM made at least two basic building kits (although many are pictured on the box... look carefully at all but one). Now, can anyone recognize their more familiar, recent form?

Yea, those are the same motors, they are great. I have to order some more.
I have another AB set. The A unit has the Athearn drive but the B unit has the older chassis. The B unit was undecorated.
