Can anyone tell me if replacement parts are available for 3 axle trucks for the TYCO triple dome tank car. The pin is cracked and the truck does not stay on the tanker. ANy ideas on repairs also for this?
Thanks

Cliff-Brian here. You have a couple of options--ebay--look for a damaged one for sell to get parts--go to train shows or flea markets and look for 3 axle tankers-drill out center of truck and use 2-56 screw to attach to body. This will probably require filling in hole with styrene for screw to mount in. I have not tried this method but it should work.

Thanks for the info Brian,
One more thing, if I find the 3 axle truck in a damaged unit, how do i remove it with out breaking? I tried this once and cracked the center plastic pin used to attached to body.
Thanks

Hey There:

The problem in many cases is that the plastic stud like the rest of the casting is 30-40 year old thermoset polymer of one sort or another. These tend to get more brittle with age. If you buy a "beater" with good trucks then you can basically cut away everything around the tank shell adjacent to the mounting stud and then gently compress the two sides of the split upper part (inside) and pull the truck out.
