Hello All...I am looking for a Chessie Super Alco 630, prefer Mantua drivetrain, will "cope" with PowerTorque. No need for MIB...just good cosmetic shape, handrails intact and running. It will be a runner for a project I am working on. Thank you.

The 630 was never offered with the Mantua drive.

The very early releases (with the correct trucks) DID have some sort of wierd center-motor-and-driveshaft system. I have personally seen one, for Chessie as it turned out. The reason I didn't buy it was because the shell had been partly melted; had I understood the significance of the drive I'd have snapped it up. Never seen one since, in RL or on Ebay.

PT Chessie 630s pop up on ebay ALL THE TIME - at least one or two per week it seems, and that's NOT counting the "boxes of miscellaneous tyco" people list either. Even supposedly "NIB" but I would ask the sellers to confirm the presence of handrails.

Also be aware the the Chessie logos on some leave a lot to be desired - I've seen some where poor Chessie's ears and paw may as well have been amputated...
