Life Like F40PH... You didn't do bad at all on the price, at the time, they were the only game in town. Proto-West built modified Athearn drives for them. They actually don't run half bad and they got a favorable review in MR back when they came out.

Hi:
It's a BAD F40PH! Ken's right probably a Bachmann!
Post-Script. Commuter line paint doesn't translate very well. I just sold a Bachmann Spectrum F40PH in Amtrak P3 paint for $89.99 Canadian! Actually it sold from the consignment shelf, but I get 80%!
Shaygetz, I remember you posting that pic a while back should have thought of that!

Thanks, Tony. They're not too hard, I use Campbell's bridge ties glued and carved down to the rails, a little wash of Hippo Gray and Nutmeg craft paints (a splash of alcohol to help dry quicker) and a pencil point to press in bolt detail. When I was a poor child starting out in the hobby, I used Ohio Blue Tip matchsticks.

I cut and fit pieces of asphalt roofing shingle in...

...then do my lines with Elmer's paint yellow and white pens.

I weather them up with powdered chalks and seal it all with clear flat.
