I recently found this online. It’s the same set of cardboard buildings that came with the AHM Kellogg’s train set I got as a kid by sending in two box tops from Kellogg’s cereals and twenty bucks. I still have the train set but the cardboard buildings are long gone.

Yes, it has those four buildings. And the Burma-Shave signs across from the gas station, and the US Army recruitment poster next to it.

AHM also had at least one other set of the 1930 Town buildings.

So Tony the Tiger was your "Gateway Drug" to HO scale railroading too?
I believe those sets were for Christmas 1975.

No, Tyco’s Chattanooga Choo Choo with smoke & the old fashioned sound of the steam whistle, from 1975, was my gateway drug to HO scale railroading. I got the Kellogg’s set in 1978, I believe. The eight wheel drive AHM GP18 was the he best performing loco I had up to that point.

The self promotion: "Accurate HO Scale!", "Authentic colors!!" Most MR's wouldn't be caught dead using those today. I recall when Model Railroader use to future horn hooks. Interestingly, space and money starved Britain's make frequent use of paper kit structures today. They are really quite good, and if finished right, are indistinguishable from plastics and wood. I've tried a few myself on Henley and was very surprised and pleased at the layers of detail.
To conserve space, which is at a premium, the Brits frequently make use of facades and shallow depth paper models, as well. Metcalf is one of several manufacturers of these highly detailed, low cost kits.
