Is his Mantua? I acquired this hopper with some other vintage Mantua, Varney, and Athern rolling stock. They all had Mantua hook & loop couplers.
This hopper is all metal. The three outlet gates are levered together and spring loaded shut. The gate next to the spring has a tab that when pushed opens all three gates. I assume something in the center of track rails would operate this mechanism.

I believe this is an Ulrich model.

Definietly Ulrich. The construction is typical of their hopper kits, and they were the only ones to offer a 3 bay offset side hopper until Roundhouse came out twith their model in the late 1970s. Everybody else offered the much rarer 4 bay hopper.
