So there I was, in Los Angeles, at The Electric Train Company's Father's Day parking lot swap meet... many, many years ago. It was the first time that I had come across what I later found out to be the battery powered frame for a HOBO F7. I paid one dollar for it, and kept it in my collection of HO scale curiosities for many years. Over the course of far too many train shows and swap meets, I came across bits and pieces of this elusive vintage loco. At a show on Long Island, at one of the Universities, in a box of frames... I came across what appeared to be a die cast version of the HOBO frame. Again, I paid one dollar for it, took it home, and compared it to the now almost restored original battery powered frame that I already possessed. Sure enough, it seemed like an early Athearn frame that had been made to accept the trucks and motor from the HOBO.
This past Summer, I purchased a HOBO Santa Fe F7, with original box and paperwork, that is identical to the one posted on the HO Resource Website. That was a great find for me, after all these years of having only a partial recreation of a loco that I thought I would never actually get to see in person. BUT WAIT, There's more...
This past weekend, at a show in Perris, California, at the Orange County Railway Museum... I came across the track powered version of this locomotive made by the same company, with original box and paperwork. It features the same Santa Fe F7 shell, ( which looks like an early Athearn/Globe piece ) and the same type of die cast frame that I had come across so many years ago. I would like to post pictures of it, if anyone is interested... I'm just not sure where to, or how to do that.
I could post them on the Vintage HO site, if that seems reasonable, or elsewhere... if there are any suggestions.
This is my first post on this forum, although I have been aware of it for some time. The HO Resource is a site that I visit often, and I am a member of the Vintage HO group on Yahoo as well. I have a large collection of HO oddities, and many normal pieces as well. I grew up on Long Island, so I have an attachment for that road, although I now live in California. My modeling interests are varied, a broad vision that includes vintage die cast models, TYCO models, and modern short line equipment. I first got into this hobby when my son bought a box of broken trains and asked me to fix them for him. It's been an adventure ever since.

To post pictures, I would recommend opening an account with www.photobucket.com . It's free and a great resource for posting pictures on line in forums. From there, it'll provide a code to post the pics. Then when typing your message here, you simply use the button next to "format" that has the square with the mountain on it to provide a pair of IMG tags and paste the link between those.
I'm curious to see your collection.

I would like to see the track powered HOBO F7... and would include an update to my page on this model.
You can post images here on the TYCO Forum. The forum hosts images for you. In the Format: group of blue buttons, there is a paperclip button on the end. Just hit it and then pick your image and upload it. Very easy.

Hey:
To add to what Tony said; make sure the file extension id in lowercase! It won't load if you have ".JPG" instead of ".jpg" Also Windows by default hides the file extensions which is also by default in uppercase. Keep your eyes open!
