Hi guys received this reply today from states,is he right,i am confused with this answer, the part from usps, ken
Thank you for your interest in our items. Nonstandard shipping quoted to your location after sale only. Our items are not packaged and weighed until after they sell so we can not tell you the correct shipping amount. We only charge the actual shipping cost to your location. As of 5/14/07, the USPS has eliminated Air and Surface Parcel Post, so we ship by Priority Mail. Most of the time it will be at LEAST double if not TRIPLE what is listed in the auction description.
i asked for a quote for priority flat rate box as was ordering a few items from his site,4 locos,i got the following from usps site for 20lbs which is far more than the 4 locos
Priority Mail® Flat Rate Box 6 - 10 Days $37.00 $35.15
it states you can send merchandise

I regularly sell on Ebay (231 positives, no negs) and have sold to Australia, Germany, Hawaii and France, never having seen those kinds of prices for shipping. I haven't done so lately since the changes but still, that seems a bit excessive. I tend to go with as small a package as possible and bubble wrap as it seems to work best.

Good Day Ken,

I’ve been trying to tell one and all that the US Post Office went bonkers with their rates last May…I purchase my postage on line and can calculate, in seconds, what the cost will be… A flat rate international priority mail box, no matter what the weight, costs US $35.15 to the UK… No tracking or insurance is available from the Post Office… So, it appears your seller is telling you a straight up tale
International Priority Mail rates to the UK:
1 lb = $19.00
2 lb = $22.80
3 lb = $26.60
4 lb = $34.20

For others on the forum who may be interested… In the states you now need the zip code PLUS the dimensions of the package to calculate Priority Mail cost… First Class with delivery confirmation is now available as long as the thickness is at least 3 inches… Using First Class, the typical HO car postage costs $3.00 including delivery confirmation and typically takes one day longer than priority to be delivered… But, the shipper has to pay for the box…

Rates for International Delivery run the gamut… I Think I said before it costs less to mail to Australia and New Zealand than it does to Canada.

And so it goes…

Loopy

Thanks, Loopy, I never realized just how bad it got last May. I always try to keep my packages small and as low a price as possible.
