Picked one of these up new in the box not too long ago, so I thought I'd give it a good tune-up and review! And now that I have a computer that can actually handle it well, most of my videos from here on will be done in 4K for more detail.

Precision Engineered Model Company was an offshoot of a group of Tyco craftsmen unhappy with the decreasing quality. Unfortunately, they launched at the same time Atari, etc, was coming off age. PEMCO products are
like midway between Tyco with PT motors and Athearn BB, they look great and run fabulously.

| I find it interesting that when Model Power released the upgraded C430 model they used the Pemco shell rather than Tyco. WHat's the difference? The Pemco has lower cab windows, well below the curve in the cab roof, giving the unit an odd look. Tyco has the cab windows in the correct location.

By the time Mehano acquired the leftover Tyco tooling in the 90's, the C430 with the Pemco shell had already been in production for a long time. For something at the cheap end, retooling the Tyco shell to replace it wouldn't have been worth it.

Maybe not worth it to them but I can't tell you how many times I have looked at those Model Power C430s with the 8 wheel drive, and passed them by because of the Pemco shell.
