I've posted several times over the past few months, but never formally introduced myself. My name is Bryan, I live in Florida, I'm 43 years old, and I have 7 kids (all with the same wife!). Like many of you, I had a Tyco train set as a kid and when it "busted" I set aside trains until just this past year. I kept that Spirit of '76 set in a box and moved it with me all these years, never really paying any attention to it. I finally got it out this summer and, with your help, got it running again. My kids enjoyed it, so I'm slowly getting into the hobby now (I'd jump in fully, but money and spousal approval must be managed closely). I recently bought a Bachmann Harry Potter train set that the kids love and I'm in the process of building a layout for it using its included EZ-Track and additions I buy periodically. The old Tyco set finds its way onto the tracks as well. I just bought a used Thomas The Tank Engine set so now the little kids have something to play with as well.

I think this is a great hobby because the cost of entry isn't too high and you can continuously build on to what you started with at a reasonable cost. The fact that the whole family thinks it's cool really helps, too.

In what little spare time I have, I support the kids in all of their athletic endeavors, I read (mostly sci-fi and fantasy, reality sucks), I'm a huge personal computing enthusiast, and I brew my own beer. [:D]

Welcome to the forum. I've learned lots from these dudes. It's cool that your family likes it, this hobby, too. Things seem sort of slow here right now.
Jump on in & have fun!

I should also add that my brother-in-law is a Florida East Coast engineer based here in NE Florida.
