WKS gifted me a NYC subway car, and had to take it to the next level.
I do believe most of the tunnels in NYC are square, as in a cut and fill
method of construction, but I think, could be wrong, some of the
deeper tunnels are round.

New York subway tunnels do have curved roofs. Like you said they are in the deeper tunnels of the system.
