For a time, Tyco sold an engine they called the Pony. It was a shifter (0-4-0) with more of a mainline tender. This was not originally one of them, but I had a shifter and I had this box tender left over from another project. Why not put a mainline tender on an 0-4-0 and use it on the Mussentuchit Transfer between the Fishhook and Mussentuchit RR, and the Tabor and Waldo RR? I got the engine at a swap meet. It was a very old Mantua Shifter with an odd set of gears that don't match the ones used now, and a diecast slope-back tender. The tender had zinc pest, so it needed a new tender. The engine had been super-detailed by the previous owner. I just added a tender and some more electrical pickup to have this strong runner.

Of interest to me is the 18-22 curved switch the locomotive is sitting on. For some reason, those haven't been made in years. The closest thing I can find are the 18-24 curved switches I build in a FastTracks jig,

Atlas used to make them. I don't know why they stopped. They were handy for the plug and play way they could be put into Atlas track plans.

That Pony is a cool little engine!
Thanks Chops! I haven't done much on the layout lately, model railroading always slows down in the summer.

Funny you should mention that Ben, as a kid there were like two things on in the afternoon that wasn't trite soap opera or the CBS evening news with Roger Mudd, and Mr. Roger's was one of them on PBS. The only part I liked was the trolley, then I'd wander off and find a book.
