I wish I could take credit for building this, but I can't. I found this used at my local hobby shop in Akron, OH. today. It's O scale. Custom made, and obviously done by a pro. It uses LED lights. And, even though I'm not a fan of LED lighting, I just couldn't walk away from it. The light behind the owl also blinks, by design. Red Owl Supermarkets were once one of the largest grocery store chains in the U.S. Their hay day was from the 1940's- the 70's. At one time, there was over 450 locations; mostly in Minnesota. There's currently only a few of them left. I think of this as a piece of American history.

long discontinued but they have a 1:48 pickup with Red Owl logo on it

Yes, someone recently clued me in about this being made by Menards. I couldn't believe it! I had no idea they even made dioramas, much less of this quality. I looked at their website, and there's a few more pieces I wouldn't mind getting. Their hotel, multi level parking garage, and Rocket diner all look pretty sweet! I didn't know that about the dog, though. Interesting!
