Hello Happy Members ! I started to build a layout inspired from an old Atlas 4x8 HO scale DC Layout. I called it The CCRR (The Constantly Changing Railroad). I also run Tyco stuff. All your comments, advices and criticisms are welcome. You can also laugh if you want !
The original layout:

Hopefully your wife willl let you keep this one. It's hard to make any progress if you have to keep tearing it down.

Your new design is rather extraordinary. To fit so much intertwining track in such a small area is, if I may say, brilliant. The circular layouts were a little tedious to look at, but now I see they were the germ of a much bigger idea. Your minimalist use of scenery is something few people are doing, or doing nearly as well as you are doing. Everything fits and echoes the other.
For those who would rather see a more traditional attempt at scenery, the realms of a cityscape plied by trams, or a remote Colorado mining town come to mind. The track plan is one of the best I've seen, anywhere.

This layout is as Christian has said a modification of the Atlas layout HO31, Waterlevel Western. He has eliminated all switches in this plan, yet retained the feel of the original.
I can't wait for the expansion hinted at. I would love to see the ideas presented here taken further, and to see where it ends up.

Today is a very happy day for me. I tried these two deadly weapons and suddenly The Love of My Life said to me: "Do it!".

Then I started building a bigger benchwork for my layout. For the moment it's not completely finished but it's progressing well.

And a Barry White CD would guarantee you a basement size layout. Go for it.

Hello there, My old "Christian" account no longer works for some totally mysterious reasons. So I'm back with a new account and some updates. The original CCRR has been extended to a larger version (82"3/4 x 43"1/4). Now it calls the New Constantly Changing Railroad (NCCRR). Hope you enjoy the videos. Thanks for watching!

Over and under trestle set. And you will use those multiple engines to pull a 4% or 5% grade. The math looks like a 3% grade except some length for vertical transition at "longest car length" per 1% change is needed at both top and bottom. This kind of challenge is why I also enjoy a continuously changing experimental layout. Good health! OTTB

Thanks for your reply. But I'm a big fan of "one level layouts" if you see what I mean.
