The year is 1967 and the Penn Central is trying to promote itself as the railroad of the future, hiring women, piggy back service, Metroliner service, and yet they drag out this 1911 Harriman and give it the full PC paint job. Love it.

Treasures old and new:
He said unto them: Therefore every scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven, is like to a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure new things and old. Mt 13:52
A truly modern railroad should still rely on oldies but goodies.

PC seemed to be in a hurry to paint stuff. In the video of the PC's condition filmed to promote the government bailout (Conrail) there is an old former PRR round roof boxcar from the 1930s in a fresh coat of PC green. It looks strangely out of place. This is the same video that shows cars derailing in the yard from track conditions.
