This year hasn't been overly good for fishing and tourism on the Lake of the Woods. Record rainfall during the Month of May sparked major flooding on the big lakes and rivers along the border between Minnesota, Manitoba, and Ontario. Here's some of my photos of local flooding.
To put into perspective, here are the boat ramps and docks at the Point (a city park and boat launch) in Warroad, MN on May 15, 2022. I've seen the water 2-3 feet below the left dock in past years.
Here's the same docks on June 9, 2022.
Here's the scene at a few of the Resorts. Springsteel, Morris, and Cyrus respectively.
The word locally is that the lake has not crested yet. It's currently at about 1 1,062.6 feet above sea level. The record, set in 1950, is 1,064 feet above sea level. With more rain coming today and in the forecast, this situation may only get worse.

Looks like y'all had a massive spill of DiHydrogen Monoxide up there.

Yipes, and is the water retreating? Off and on, I'd been hearing things about falling water levels in the Great Lakes, to include the not Great Lake, St. Clair. What's up with that?

Don;t know about the other lakes, But lake Erie, 150 miles from me, is up about a foot and a half from its historical average level. But then again, we've been experiencing above normal rainfall for the past few years.

No, it's going to remain this way for a while. I've heard we haven't even seen the creation quite yet. If we jump up a foot, it's going to be a real disaster.
