An HO-Scale locomotive I never thought I'd own....the Mallard! It is a tender-driven Hornby steam locomotive, and after getting the corrosion off the contact wheels and lubing the gears, it runs stupendously.

This one is a wee bit of a puzzle to me. I originally thought is was a Train Miniature FA1, but the body and drive are different than those. The chassis is stamped Japan, so I'm not sure what it is. For Comparison I have the three Fa1s I own side by side. the black one is an actual Train Miniature with the Athearn drive I remember. The New Haven one is a Walthers Trainline. Any help identifying the white one would be appreciated.

Train Miniature had 2 different drives in the FA that I am aware of - the Athearn one and another made in Japan that was almost (completely?) riveted together. I had one at one time, but the riveted construction made it very difficult to service, I eventually sold it. That particular one was not a good runner either, the motor would overheat quickly.
