The last carton, a box of loose pieces and bits, has a high bid right now of $67.
I was anticipating heaving it in the trash, or paying out to Aaron just to take
it out of my garage. Overall, this deep thinning earned me about $1000 in
surplus locos and cars. Then feeBay, which offers "free listings" earmarked
$400. That should run Jamie Iannone's 747 for about five minutes.

I started everything at 99 cents, and let the market determine the final price. Junk
went for much more than I would ever guess, and the really good stuff went for
pennies on the dollar, so in the end, it all evened out.

There is a new start up site, exclusively model trains. Don't know much
about it, but here it is:

https://modeltraindepo.com/

I chatted with the owner, says there is no auction format, but buyers will respond to
offers.

Ebay is such a weird gamble. I've never sold, only bought. Some items I've bought for screamin' deals, while other I've paid a little more than I probably should have. As you say, it all evens out.
