A red box Tyco 50ft flat lettered for Great Northern:

Nothing special but the only one I have in GN. I like the looks of these riveted 50ft flat cars.

That flatcar is basically a trainset car, but if you look at the fineness of the detail on it, the car could hold its own with stuff made for the model market.

That GN flatcar s pretty neat. I am not a super Tyco collector but I have a bunch, but not the GN flat. I know I see the ATSF all the time at stores and train meets, but I may haveto keep an eye out for the GN now.

The ubiquitous Tyco flat. Probably 99.9% are missing the darned brake stanchion, least mine
are. You can put anything on a Tyco flat. This is a burned up Bachmann PCC that did many
a lap on the Smeltertown layout before the motor finally overheated and who knows what else.
Now it's a load.

I believe this was my last rolling stock purchase a while back. A Life-Like Santa Fe hopper. I had never seen it before and liked the colors instantly!

That one is eye-catching, Walt. Does it have the refrigeration units on it?

Say Walt, what does that life-like box say came in it?

The reason I ask is that this car is a spot on match to the Bachmann Santa Fe ACF Center-Flow. I know a few items I got in life-like boxes have AHM markings on them, did L-L get Bachmann cars as well.

That IS a Life-Like. I am surprised too. I didn't realize L-L had any ACF Centerflows in their lineup.

Here's the end on the box with the Santa Fe checked. I wasn't sure what the box was going to say when I won it on ebay

That was quick... I found a GN flatcar in a huge junk box at a flea market. I added some paint and washes to the deck and started making a piggyback flat from the orange/salmon wreckage of a Tyco Auto-Loader.

That will follow the paint scheme of Athearn's 89 foot piggybacks.

That was quick! The weathering is a vast improvement over the tan plastic that looks so…

…plastic. (The deck has nice detail though.)

Agreed - good weathering work.

Tyco flats have really nice detail and texture on the decks and thin washes really bring them to life. They are always a quick, easy and fun detail project.
