From my Tyco CN Coaches, I have pretty much figured out that one simply does not take Tyco Passenger Trucks Apart.

I only have the one passenger car or else I'd try. They seems like something that are press fit together pretty tightly. I would find a Santa Fe coach for cheap and swap the truck.

I am of the same opinion, Aaron.
However, busss, you might be able to just straighten-out those axles with a small pair of needle-nose pliers....might not be perfect, but with some tweaking, you should be able to get the axles rolling fairly straight again.

What if you gently extract the axles and slip in a flexible pair of nylon wheel sets?

The side frames may come off if you drill out the 2 recessed areas. I would use a drill that is the same size as some styrene rod so you can pin it back together later.

Those axles are trash, just replace them. Also notice that the flange on the plastic wheel is also damaged. Your best bet is replace the entire truck with one salvaged from another car.

Replace coupler by taking a tiny screw driver and gently prying open the coupler pocket, gently cause you don't want to damage the stupid rivet. Probably take a horn hook, but the kind with the tiny pin hole, but you might get by with a coupler with a larger hole. Just make sure the plastic spring is good.
Reassemble by replacing the coupler lid and gently squeezing with needle nose pliers. Might need a small dab of ACC to bind the rivet from falling off.
I'm lazy, I wouldn't make myself nuts trying to drill out the press fit dimples and all that. Just take a regular set of nylon Tyco wheels, you know the molded one piece axle and wheel combination, very flexibly and put them in and done. One & done.
To remove that trashed axles, if they won't easily come out, simply snip or cut away the old axle in the center. Those trucks might be fragile zinc, so I'd go with cutting or snipping- you don't want to stress the side frames.

Yeah, well, that's a tradeoff, then back to plan A which is to swap out the truck. That is toasted.

Simply drill out the one side. Bit should be just a little wider than the circular depression on the cast part of the truck. Remove that side and slip in new wheelsets or repair the existing ones. Put it back together with your favorite “stick to everything” glue.

Agreed. Way better, but you could still do some more bending.

Will probably never be right, and I've been straightening metal for many years! My first opinion was to scrap the whole thing. My now opinion is the same...

Sounds like a guy from my hometown who had an old Firebird that HE called a Trans Am. The engine smoked like a steamer, and blew. He told a friend and I that he got a GOOD engine this time, it doesn't SMOKE half as bad as the other engine did!
