Hey all, figured I'd stop by to show off a little something I've had for a hot minute. I picked this up for about 30 smackers and I must say I think it was a worthy investment (this isn't my can of worms - I usually go for more modern products). I really only bought it because it was New Haven, normally I don't care for this sort of thing, but it's like a pen at a gift shop - you've come this far, why not treat yourself?

This isn't all original unfortunately; it came with the horns broken off, missing handrails, broken couplers, and a split rear plow. Thanks to a little something called ingenuity and the salvage pile I was able to save it, it looks rather stunning for what it is. The only things I don't know how to fix are the cracked wheels on the dummy truck and the motor's odd behavior. Are these typical of TYCO-Mantua products?

(I can't figure out how to upload pictures directly to post, so you get a google drive link instead)

Welcome aboard, Rokman!

*To upload photos, click on the little camera icon in the "Format" box of little tiles above where you type in the text box while creating a post, then select the photos off your computer/device.

The motors in most old Tyco diesels, like yours, are the infamous "MU-2" style can motors, which are bulletproof. But, as far as how well they run, they don't compare to modern motors in terms of smooth running style...even when well cared for. But, they get the job done and are ultra reliable.

Also, cracks in the plastic wheels are common....I've seen it many times over, but it isn't detrimental to actually running the locomotive.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven." - Matthew 5:16
