Here's another Roundhouse 0-6-0T kit I "finished".
It's about 90% done. I'm waiting on some parts for the cab and some weathering paints to arrive. So here it is pre mini figures, pre "glass" and pre weathered.
A nicely filed frame. This time the metal parts had a lot less flash.
Built mechanicsm. At steam locomotive kit number 3 I've become somewhat of an expert at getting these mechanicms to run great. Though that really isnt much of an accomplishment. I run this little steamer about 3 hours everyday to continue breaking everything in. The more I run it the smoother it gets. However, I will say something about this: I really hate the way the pickups work on this model. You only get 2 of the port side drivers to pickup electricity. My plan for this model and the other 0-6-0 I built is to build little "tenders" for them. Essentially I'm going to take a small freight car and wire it to where it'll act like a tender for these models. So stay tuned for that.
The whole reason why I wanted this kit. The cool American freedom train scheme. Well it turns out Roundhouse left a huge amount of plastic flash on this kit. AND the paint was messed up on the port side as well. So, instead of painstakingly trying to correct the paint I just went with a re-spray. It would have been impossible to match my white colors to the white that was already on the boiler.
My inspiration for the paint job. I wanted to go with a "mini" Southern Cresent.
Post rattle can.
Port side. Next time I'm shaving those molded in handrails off and applying my own. I'm totally done with trying to paint on modeled details like that. It's nearly impossible to get the paint perfect on that.
Boiler front.
My two kits together.
When my other parts get here and when I install them I'll update this thread with more pictures.
Thanks for looking.

I like that Southern green! Maybe not the original plan, but it sure looks sharp.

Shaggy: Yeah whatever color I used on the rattle can turned out great!
Bus: It would be cool to see one of these in a UP greyhound scheme.
RP: It turned out okay in my opinion. The modeled on handrails are such a pain and they still look “off” to me.

Very nice! I don't think I've seen a Roundhouse 0-6-0T actually built up. Love the Southern paint scheme!
