moving from the other thread to here

I am trying the layout expander, but I only have room for a 6x4 so I've "abbreviated" it, might add a rail yard, as I got a lot of cars incoming

tonights progress, got chuggy boi to do a few laps with 4 cars with few issues, then added a F9 weight to a flatcar and added that to the load, I appear to have some issues with one pair of turnouts on the far side, I'll need to investigate and correct.

and clean track, and clean more track, and clean it all again

hot glue works for taking track, and got stuff wiggled around so the track has the fewest gaps, then used my soldering iron to clean up some turnouts and fill in a gap between rails

wired up one of the turnouts because I've never played with one, out of rail joiners so it isn't real useable, but wow, those are neat, need more control box switches once I get all the rail joiners and other parts collected

need more parts, have them ordered and awaiting delivery to start up the rest, then clean tools off and start playing with switching puzzles and such

neither of those spurs/sidings have enough rail joiners to carry juice, but are good enough to park cars on. not tacked down either. now that I got the loop set up, it should be easier to place the rest without tacking everything

got some fractional track and rail joiners in today (regular and insulated)

advice to anyone setting up a layout using used track, treat yourself to new rail joiners, you won't be disappointed

was able to set up stage one of the tyco track expander system which is just the siding

set up one of the spur tracks, because I had the parts

all wired on one circuit for now, did a bit of testing, nothing tacked down yet as I need to insulate for blocks yet
I have a block switch coming along with more switch control blocks
and more track for the inner loop*
and a MRC railmaster 2400
and at least one two three four(with one Two Three more engine auctions pending)))more engines, plus parts to repair one I have, might need it to quadruple-head the 20 cars of rolling stock

poor chuggy boi is gonna get worn out "testing", he was supposed to be a shunter, not my main rolling stock runner, but he does what he does while waiting for others to be delivered

the full expander set has two more spurs, but since I had to shrink this to fit 4x6 I don't have room for them

*I might take the inner loop and modify it to be something else, I am not sure yet. the inner loop is a typical 36x45 with one switch to join it to the rest of the layout

toying with just using 7 curved tracks and a couple switches and making a yard, although a small one, or maybe I can fit a shunting puzzle, I'll see once I get more track

been fighting with layout software this morning, I think this might fit. I'll know better when track delivered
