I took these photos on a road trip in Alamogordo, New Mexico few years ago. Literally translated, "Alamogordo" means "Fat Fort." Hmmm.

Man, that stuff looks good enough for people food.
I often confused that ad for this one:

I do believe it is written somewhere that the dogs for these commercials were starved for a good 24 to 48 hours prior to shooting the ad.

You ever try that stuff? You’d have to fast 48 hours to eat that stuff. True story: back in the day I was picking up 22 tons of dog crunchies at the Joplin plant. While waiting to get loaded I surveyed the floor. There were huge stacks of empty bags- Old Roy, Purina, Science Pro. One chute. It was all the exact same stuff at different retail prices. Giant loads of horse corn delivered on the other side of the plant.

As of today Anderson Lines System is making a little revenue. Here the 'ol sharknose can be scene with a skeleton crew switching the Hooker Chemical Factory at Niagra Falls, NY. The sharknose matches the orange and black tones of the Hooker Tank Car quite well...
This beautiful Tyco tanker is from the 1950s, with loop and hook couplers. It's funny to think that around the time this thing was built some construction worker made the fatal mistake of digging too deep while building a school in Niagra Falls. A fatal mistake that would create a toxic nightmare for future residents...

Nice sets, Chops and Aaron.
My "set" is this NOS LifeLike locomotive & caboose set - featuring the Southern RR F7 and Southern caboose, both of which are equally hard to find. It will end up running on the Ephrata Valley Railroad eventually, and although I usually don't, I'm keeping the box.

Alamo means poplar. The only poplar I can imagine thriving enough to be gordo in Alamogordo, NM is the cottonwood. Presumably, the place was named for one or more big fat old cottonwood trees.
