Seeing this makes me wonder why I complain, about anything. One slip and a couple of tons threaten to mangle a foot, hand, a spleen. Pouring the molten iron like watering a flower bed is equally hair raising. Catch a dribble of that down your boot.
Once completed, how does a man keep all those junctions clear in his mind? One moment of lassitude and trains collide and people die.

I dunno. It certainly is a great feat. The workers aren't even wearing protective gear! But alas, rules and regulations for safety in these factories didn't exist.

To some extent, the switch controls are interlocked to prevent as many mistakes as possible automatically. Beyond that, I expect it comes down to training, attention, and taking the necessary time to think through what you're doing. Still, it's a heavy responsibility.
