I live in Vero Beach FL

I left a large HO layout in Mi because no basements down here.. no 4th bedroom

My options are a screened Lanai that get wet when it blows rain and a hot 2 car garage with one car.

For $25000 i could turn the Lanai i nto a room but thats a lot of money

I can air condition the garage not sure yet the cost Still have to leave room for car, tools, storage stuff that used to be in basement Without A C things rust Its a constsnt battle

Even a crazy idea of a layout on ropes and pulleys stored up in garage ceiling

Trains arent big down her More R C cars and planes

Any of you southern residents have and suggestions

A shed in the back yard with insulation and a window unit. Or go to G gauge. Or just join a local club! It's tough being a model railroader in Florida. I live outside of Jacksonville.

My nephew in Ohio has no room and bought a decent size prefabbed building and put in back his yard. However, I know the building and delivery would not be cheap...

Oh yes, Here in FL it is hard to find anything, or anybody for that matter who is involved in the hobby.
I assume not everyone can do this, but if there is a small room in your house, just use that room. If you have a bunch of junk just lying around in there (Like my families guest room ) Then it could push you to do some cleaning out as well. But AC is a must. I would never opt for a shed, or garage here if it is not properly cooled. I hope you find what your looking for!

I live around Deerfield Beach, so it gets real hot. I've even considered just joining my local club, but there's nobody my age there.
