Kadee couplers conversions for Tyco Red Box rolling stock. Does anyone know if there is a kit number?

I’m running some 1960’s Lionel engines and looking to pull some Tyco rolling stock. I want to replace the Tyco horn hook couplers with Kadee.

Thanks

If you go on kadee's website there should be a list of coupler conversions to fit your locos or freight cars. If you want body mounted you will have to drill the holes to accommodate screws for a kadee coupler box. If you want to keep the truck mounted couplers, use kadee talgo truck converters. They are very easy to install, and work nicely. Hope I helped!

Body mounting couplers is the best way to go. Just get a pack of Kadee couplers, a couple packages of the draft gear boxes, a package of Kaddee draft gear box shims, and some 2-56 wood screws, and some 2-56 nuts and bolts from Walthers.

The 2-56 wood screws will hold just fine in the thick plastic frames of most Tyco cars, but get some nuts and bolts too, just in case you have to drill through the car weight, or attach the coupler box to a very thin or exposed part of a car chassis, such as the end platform on a passenger car or caboose.
