Thanks, RP,
I did receive some feed back on another Forum, perhaps people here are too polite to tell me, but they were confused as to the plot line. Let me kind of spell it out; my sense of humor is a bit complicated, often.
In the earlier days of going to the movies, one would see a news reel, often by a company like Pathe, before the movie. Or you would see a cartoon short, like Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny. This predated television. This pretty much stopped by the 1970's, but was a staple future in the first fifty years of movie going.
This vignette is a parody of what a news reel in or about 1927 might have looked like.
The plot is essentially a tourist promotion to see Britain by train. It opens with a British subway advertisement from that period of time.
The satire is regarding that England, more so than than many nations, has a historical depth of a profound variety. The humor was to satirize a sort of tedium that one sometimes finds in these sorts of travelogs.
The background music, by the British Punk group, The Flying Lizards, is also a satire of mindless repetition, and contains a brief rift of rag time that relates to the era of 1927 England. The music and lyrics is in itself satire, if a bit cynical.
The punchline is an absurdist variation of mythologies, such as the Loch Ness Monster, which is briefly seen knocking over sarsens in the Stone Henge exhibit. That particular LNM was a gift from Micro Busss, one of several. I use it often as a photo bomb, it is perfect. The punchline is the gigantic house fly, much imaginary as the LNM, of which there is virtually not [u]one shred of scientific proof.[u]
(In fact, identical LNM sightings have been scientifically attributed to floating driftwood that bobs in a manner that looks like something alive in the thermal cross currents of the land locked lake).
When doing these films, I rarely have an idea what I am doing when I start. The ideas, and my odd ball humor, develops organically as I film. I often have no idea what the end product will become when I start.
I try to limit these videos to two and one half minutes to a maximum of four minutes to a. force myself to stick to one theme, and b. avoid boring my audience.
