Here’s a very nice recent find of mine. A Tyco Pennsy F7A “deluxe diesel”. Made in a time when PowerTorque was King. This engine is new in the box....just look at that shine. Still has factory grease on the MU-2. You can find more about this engine on the Tyco trains resource. I have one other Deluxe diesel, the Canadian National F7. A tell-tale sign that this is a Deluxe Diesel is the number on the end of the box and the MU-2 with screws not rivets.

Wow, what an awesome find, looks like it's in mint condition, where did you get that gem from?
Speaking of factory grease, I would recommend that before you try to running your F7 that you should first it give it a good thorough cleaning with an electronics cleaner and then lightly re-lubricate it. Chances are that the original factory grease is as hard as a rock and may cause damage to your MU-2.
For just such purposes I use an electronic cleaner you can buy from your local Napa auto parts store.....

It's plastic safe and will not only break up the old cruddy gear lube but will also remove any oxidation on the motor armature as well.
Just remember not to spray this stuff into the motor while it has electrical current running through it, this stuff will catch fire! Just give it a few moments to evaporate away to stay safe.
Proudly keeping Tyco Pluggers out of landfills since 2016

That is very good advice. Normally I remove the grease with cotton swabs and install new grease along with 2 drops of Bachmann EZ lube. However I believe this one will be relegated to its box forever. Most of the pieces in my TYCO collection are new/mint in the box. Really nice pieces, like this rare Deluxe Diesel will most certainly stay in its box. I’m more of a Tyco documenter and preservationist, rather than operator.

I have a few things I know you’d like. I just so happen to have 2 mint blue bonnet C430s.
Maybe one day.
