Having sworn mighty oaths (with and without profanity) not to collect any more Tyco, I collected more Tyco. The 4x8 is so densely crowded, there are structures overhanging the edges. A Tyco Piggy Back Unloader was evicted to make room for a Tyco Factory.
So, gathering up my remaining last ounce of strength, and some scrap lumber, I banged out this L extension to Armadilloville.

The existing track plan is a double loop, and so a "bow tie" is fashioned with a crossing at the top of another oval.
Other options could have been to simply create a "wave," running the track in a bump onto the extension.

Which would eliminate this crossing:

And crossings are fun, noisy things, and if more than one train is run, can make for some interesting operation.
Now I've got some more real estate to work with I can bring back to the Piggy Back Unloader, install the Tyco Airport and lastly the Tyco US Mail unloading station. Plus about a dozen dinosaur skeletons from Nebraska , but more about that tomorrow.

What a difference a few square extra feet makes. I know that my good friend RP (many, many of his overstock items populate Armodilloville; we have very similar tastes) has striven to jam enormous amounts of material and action, including a functional two track main, into his brilliant micro layout "Ephrata Valley Railroad." When he shoots film, one cannot believe one is looking at a 4x4. Alas, I am not that disciplined, or clever, so I have had to add a spillway to the accretion.
I find the simple act of moving buildings around (Armodilloville Main Street scarcely looks deflated) as much fun as running the trains. I thought about putting the reinstated Piggy Back Crane onto a spur, but it looks a lot more fun to have the train run through this industrial tunnel, and is less cramped. I had to move the passenger station to a curve, for now, but at least I can see it, and it no longer hangs out over the edge as it did before, with a piece of cardboard as a shim to hold it up. The lovely lighted Tyco church is now out of its jammed corner, and my beloved one-of-a-kind Jade Fog plant, complete with a gassed-out employee is front and center. Incidentally, back in the 1920's, when lead was being added to gasoline to make it combust more evenly, a number of workers dropped dead or were severely injured by the exposure.
Best of all, I was able to repurpose the original Tycomania Trolley loop, that I painstakingly put together a few years ago. I had been eye-balling it ever since, with an eye to throwing it away to make for less clutter, but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to do it. Now Armadilloville has a second trolley service!

Many new pieces from our good friend, Micro Busss, arrived earlier this week, and they are spot on with my zany attempt at model railroading. Still waiting on delivery of the mail station; I have save a spot for it. I often think that if the Busss gets to build his dream layout, it would probably take up half of a school auditorium.
The only problem with Armodilloville is that it distracts me from working on the OO "Henley," which is a somewhat more disciplined attempt at realism, mixed with a lot of visual puns, but realistically as I can manage.

Very nice, Chops! Glad to see that you will eventually have a layout the size of mine!! I notice some really cool things on your table including the Matchbox #56 Fiat and the #23 Trailer Caravan... Plus, the Tyco VW bus slot car! Good for you!

Looks GREAT, Chops!!! Nice layout extension....and it is already quite filled.
Might want to invest in Tyco's Giant Operating Crane - trust me, it is just the "zany" Tyco addition you need.
