Slippery slope strikes again. After declaring a moratorium on buying more Tyco, The Sharkmaster steered me into this eBay find and my new found resolved collapsed like a house of cards. Nicely customized, it makes a great addition to Armadilloville!
Like that hopper, Chevelle, I do, I do.

Another two-bay hopper, this time a BHP hopper from Life-Like for the Australian market.

For those who barely made out a pair of Kadee #5s on each end (and some poorly hidden screws which I must trim one day), converting this style of Life-Like hopper to use body mounted Kadee couplers requires a bit of custom work as there is nowhere to mount a coupler. In this case, a Coke can was cut up to form a draft gear mount. I prefer using screws over gluing draft gear boxes, but for those who want the easy way, it should be possible to glue a #5 or #148 type box directly to the frame without modifying the car (the "ears" on a #5 box may need to be trimmed however).
The wheelsets are not original, I believe they were from a Playart car. The trucks are standard Life-Like and had the talgo couplers removed when the car was converted to knuckle couplers.

Aside from the coupler conversion (and wheelsets) the BHP hopper is actually factory original (the product code on the box is T6905). Life-Like made a lot of "Australian" versions of their base range, although they are wholly fictional due to the differences between American and Australian rolling stock (including locos).
